International project meeting in Poland

On May 20–21, researchers from the project Social and Political Consequences of Spatial Inequalities in Central and Eastern Europe gathered in Warsaw for their third international workshop.

During the meeting, they presented their latest research findings. The discussions highlighted that a lack of job opportunities, limited access to training, and uncertain future prospects can indeed contribute to political dissatisfaction among the population. However, the researchers emphasized that other factors—such as demographic composition and educational attainment in disadvantaged regions—also play a crucial role in explaining the rise in political discontent.

As part of the workshop, the team visited Szydłowiec, one of the study regions in Poland. There, they met with local political, economic, and cultural representatives to gain further insights into the region’s specific challenges and dynamics.
